Social Work

What is Social Work?

Social workers are: 

  • Allied health professionals, qualified through a four-year degree.
  • Represented by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), which supports and empowers the profession.
  • Accredited social workers hold AASW-approved qualifications or equivalent recognized international credentials.
  • They demonstrate ongoing professional development and ethical practice.


Roles of social workers:

  • Partner with individuals, families, groups, and communities to address personal challenges and structural barriers.
  • Work in diverse settings, including people-facing roles (like counselling) or non-people-facing roles (such as policy development or consultancy).

Accredited Disability Social Worker
